大木作，古代汉族木构架建筑的主要结构部分，由柱、梁、枋、等组成。同时又是木建筑比例尺度和形体外观的重要决定因素，大木是指木构架建筑的承重部分。清式大木作做法可分为大木大作和大木小作式两类。庑殿顶，两山用丁（顺扒梁）做成斜坡屋顶，与前后屋面45°相交，上加角梁、隐角梁，直抵正脊，屋面四向排水。自间广、长、柱高，以至每一构件的长短、高厚、榫卯位置、大小，均逐一按设计用足尺画在方木杆上，同时还应画出与本构件相结合的其他构件的中线。
